Animal Control
Animals found roaming loose will be picked up and taken to the City Pound at 102 Walnut Street. You may call City Hall at 936-372-3880 to see if your animal has been picked up. The city will keep animals for 72 hours.
The Fees are as follows:
- First Time Impounded: $25.00
- Second Time Impounded: $50.00
- Third Time Impounded: $75.00
- Fourth and Subsequent Times Impounded: $100.00
The Animal Control Ordinance protects citizens from the danger and nuisances created by uncontrolled or diseased animals. Protection of citizens is accomplished through the enforcement of various state statutes and City ordinances.
Dogs and/or cats are not allowed to run at large on private property and must wear collar and tags at all times.
It is extremely important that pets are licensed and vaccinated at six months of age.
